New Community Library opened on Friday 2nd November!

The new Community Library opened its doors for the first time on 2nd November.  In addition to all of the usual library services the new library now offers extra computers and more information for residents and visitors to our beautiful town. We have bought lots of new books and will also welcome donations of books published in the last 2 years. Library users can continue to use their current library cards and to reserve books from other libraries for collection from Lechlade as before.
We have finally agreed the principles of the lease with the County. The Community Library will take responsibility for internal repairs and the County will continue to be responsible for the structure of the building. As part of this deal we have negotiated some immediate repairs to the walls and roof and the re-painting of the frontage.  We have also been awarded a grant from the new Lechlade Community Fund to help replace the more worn areas of carpet.
It is all very exciting although, as you would expect, there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes with the Management Committee doing a great job of getting everything ready in time.
New volunteers are always welcome and full training is available.
Please note the new opening times:
Monday 10 – 1 and 1 – 4
Wednesday 10 – 1
Friday 1 – 4 and 4 -7
Saturday 10 – 1
