The Community Library and Visitor Information Centre is run by Lechlade Library Ltd an incorporated charity – this means that we are both a charity and a limited company.

All the Directors and staff are volunteers

The Library service offers free access to books and the internet and provides additional services such as Visitor Information, Wi Fi access, Virtual Job Centre, photocopying, printing and more…….

Charges are made for  Audio Books and DVDs to cover the cost of these items. For those with sight impairment you are entitled to free loan of audio books.

Wi Fi is now free and we have a JOB Club running every Monday from 10 to 12 offering help with updating CVs, making applications and interview skills. The Club also offers the opportunity to network with other Job Seekers.

All new stock is bought from our own funds.

We receive an annual grant from Gloucestershire County Council of £10,000 p.a. which covers our basic running costs.

We rely on grants and fund-raising to help cover the cost of projects such as the re-decoration of the library

  1. Hello Lechlade Library,

I donated a copy of my debut novel, The Seven Letters, on Tuesday morning last.
The book is on the Oxfordshire library catalogues but you are the first Gloucestershire library to have one that I know of.

A number of libraries are holding ‘Meet the Author’ events because the staff have read it and it has been very popular with readers. I am more than happy to do the same for your library. You will be able to see the many five star reviews on Amazon, Goodreads and Net Galley. The Seven Letters was Book of the Month at The Madhatter Bookshop, Burford, last month. It is, I am pleased to say, doing very well particularly for its historical value.

  2. Hello,
Please could you tell me whether the library has a small room to hire at all? I live locally in Lechlade and I am looking for somewhere to hold jewellery making classes on a regular basis.
