Our Library of Things at Charlton Kings Library has just celebrated its second birthday — and what an impact it’s made.
Last year alone, 482 items were borrowed, helping our community avoid around 16.74 tonnes of CO₂ and save an incredible £53,490 compared to buying new. That’s the power of sharing.
Now, we’re thrilled to announce the next chapter.
The Library of Things is expanding! This spring, brand‑new collections will launch at Up Hatherley and Quedgeley libraries, alongside an even bigger catalogue of items for everyone to enjoy.
Supported by the amazing volunteers at Vision 21, the Library of Things gives you affordable access to items you might only need once in a while, including:
Carpet cleaners, pressure washers & dehumidifiers
DIY tools & gardening equipment
Gazebos, party supplies & games
Craft tools & creative equipment
And the best part? Everything costs £5 or less for a full week’s hire, keeping it accessible for all.
